Family Prayer Series III: ALIGN WITH GOD

Reading & Meditation Joshua 24:1-15 “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” 15c We bless God for another gift of a day. We are still on the issue of the praying family. Another suggestion in helping our family pray together is the issue of aligning with God. Joshua from our today’s, passage, understood God’s purpose for himself and family, and would have probably be teaching them, practicing and obeying them with his family as instructed by God in Deuteronomy. This made him stand to the end, and at his good old age, he was still with God and could declare for his family; that they are partner with the Lord, till death. For your family to begin praying, then you must align with God’s plan and purpose. Before praying as a family, the family purpose and plans must be known by all members involved, provided they can understand issues of life. The place of your family in God’s scheme should be sought in prayer first. And over all, our goal in prayer ...

Family Prayer Series II: Be an Example

Reading and Meditation Matt 6:5-15 “You should pray like this: our father in heaven, help us to honour your name” v 9 We continue today with our family prayer series. As Christ calls us to pray, he wants us to show example; for him he showed example to his disciples, in praying. And from our today’s passage, he taught them praying format. Like I said some weeks back, though Christ does not expect parents to be prayer experts, he expects them to be an example to their family. If you are not currently modeling a prayer life before your children or you don’t have a regular quiet time, now is the time to start one. Your kids need to know or see that you spend time each day with the Lord in prayer. In addition to the individual prayer life of a parent, children should see their both parent prayer together. Their praying together is a clear statement to their children, even without a word. The marriage relationship is strengthens in the process, as each spouse hear the petiti...

Family prayer series: No Pressure

Reading and Meditation Deuteronomy 6:4-9 “Memorize his laws, and tell them to your children over and over again, talk about them all the time, whether you’re at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night or getting up in the morning.” v 7 [CEV] It is a wide know fact and saying, that a praying family is a wining family, prayers helps family to love and stay together. So between now and the next few days, we would be looking at some suggestion to help prepare you to begin praying as a family. For today; the first suggestion is –no pressure-let Jesus lead and the Holy Spirit guide. One or both parents are to take the initiative to begin family prayer. However children can also be the catalyst. Either way, the parents will need to guide the family into spiritual adventure. As a parent you must note that you don’t need to be ‘prayer expects’. All you need is to move in obedience with the power and strength of Christ. He has calle...
