Reading & Meditation Luke 16: 19 -31 “… They have Moses and the prophets; let them listen to them” v 29 A story was told of the encounter of an insurance agent and an intending client. The insurance agent shares the following experience: His wealthy neighbour planned to build a big house with every convenience. In order to provide security for his wife he decided to take out insurance policy. The forms were completed and ready for signing. The agent phoned the neighbour to tell him that his signature was all that was needed. But the man delayed as neighbour's they often met; so he reminded him repeatedly, but after some months the man had still failed to sign as the premium was high. At a later encounter the agent suggested, “The best thing would be to sign three days before the disaster happens”. His neighbour laughed, saying, “I can’t calculate that accurately” and said good bye. The next morning his private plane crashed, and he was killed. A few days ...

Life’s Contacts

Reading & Meditation II King 8:1-6; 4; 8 -37.         “About this time next year, “Elisha said, “you will hold a son in your arms” 4v16. “Go away with your family and stay for a while wherever you can, because the Lord has decreed a famine in the land that we last seven years.” 8v1 From the above passages from the Bible the Lord we have us look at the importance of life’s contacts, those we meet on/during our life’s journey and our day to day activities. From the passages, we saw how the Shunanimite woman, met the prophet Elisha and her story and that of her family changed forever. Because of the positive impact, she made in the life of the Elisha her barrenness was changed with a gift of a son who later died, but restored to her. In chapter eight  she again reaped the dividend of her contact with Elisha; her entire family was saved from famine.
