Life’s Contacts

Reading & Meditation
II King 8:1-6; 4; 8 -37.
“About this time next year, “Elisha said, “you will hold a son in your arms” 4v16.
“Go away with your family and stay for a while wherever you can, because the Lord has decreed a famine in the land that we last seven years.” 8v1

From the above passages from the Bible the Lord we have us look at the importance of life’s contacts, those we meet on/during our life’s journey and our day to day activities. From the passages, we saw how the Shunanimite woman, met the prophet Elisha and her story and that of her family changed forever. Because of the positive impact, she made in the life of the Elisha her barrenness was changed with a gift of a son who later died, but restored to her. In chapter eight  she again reaped the dividend of her contact with Elisha; her entire family was saved from famine. On her return, after seven years with a new leader on the throne her contact with Elisha helped restored her possession that was already taken over by the government.
Do you think if her first meeting with Elisha had gone bad, she would have benefited from all those miracles and help? Definitely, the answer is a capital NO, so what impression do you leave with those you meet, either for the first  time or not, do you look down on people or look for ways to be of help?
A story was said of a woman who smiled at a sorrowful stranger, the smile seemed to make him feel better. He remembered past kindness of a friend and wrote him a thank you letter. The friend happened to be the woman’s former employer owning her ten (10) month’s pay; He was so pleased with the thank you letter that he immediately left an instruction with his accountant to call the woman and pay her, her ten (10) months pay, with a large tip on it and a personal apology and a request to return to work, if she still needs the job. What! All these as a result of a simple simile that cost nothing!

Lesson Learnt
Beware; life’s contacts can become life changing!

Prayer
Dear Lord, help me not to look down on people I meet during my daily activities. Help me to look out for the best in them, in Jesus Name (Amen)

Am-GOD

Ps. 8:1-9                                                                                                                “What is man that you are mindful of him…” v4 Thank God for another opportunity to see another bright day; it’s a privilege to be alive, either well or whatever condition one is now, it’s better than being in the grave! As we begin a another day, you must know you are god, because Christ lives in you, if you ...

Everybody Should Win:The need to Learn how to Resolve Conflict

“Two are better than one, because they have good return for their labour” Eccl. 4:9 “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord” Hebrews 12:14 As a development consultant with some specialty in conflict management, working in the space for over a decade now, I can confirm that indeed life is inevitable without conflicts. But how we manage the process is key. The Bible references above reminds of the benefits we get from working together and also living in peace and above all the spiritual benefits. Living in peace facilitates holy living, which in turn makes us to see the Lord, in everything we do. This article will be a form of review of Gary Chapman’s book “Everybody Wins: Guide to Solving Conflicts without Arguing” (if you can please get a copy for yourself). The goal of everyone, couples or people in relationship should be to resolve conflict without arguing. We must first establish before proceeding ...

Prayer Mission Statement IV

Acts 10:1-8 “He and all his family were devout and God fearing, he gave generously to those in need and prayed regularly” v 2. We go a step further  in our family prayer series, before we round up it up with the next post by His grace. The suggestion in part IV is to formulate a family prayer mission statement, our praying should focus on our mission statement. Remember some couples of weeks back, we shared the issue of vision and mission statement together and through the scripture, we agreed that without a vision/mission statement people perish, people are stagnant or have no direction at all. Like said yesterday that as a family there is need to have or know the purpose and plan of God for our family. The statement could be written or not, but it gives your family direction. For Cornelius, he and his family knew they were meant to help the poor and pray fervently. They never used their position as a prominent military family to intimidate people. Their statement ...
