Insurance

Reading & Meditation
Luke 16: 19 -31
“… They have Moses and the prophets; let them listen to them” v 29

A story was told of the encounter of an insurance agent and an intending client. The insurance agent shares the following experience: His wealthy neighbour planned to build a big house with every convenience. In order to provide security for his wife he decided to take out insurance policy. The forms were completed and ready for signing. The agent phoned the neighbour to tell him that his signature was all that was needed. But the man delayed as neighbour's they often met; so he reminded him repeatedly, but after some months the man had still failed to sign as the premium was high.
At a later encounter the agent suggested, “The best thing would be to sign three days before the disaster happens”. His neighbour laughed, saying, “I can’t calculate that accurately” and said good bye.
The next morning his private plane crashed, and he was killed. A few days later the widow wanted to claim, the sum insured, but the contract hadn’t been signed!
This tragic incident is a warning against nonchalant procrastination, especially in view of eternity. We must put things in order with God during our life time. “Now is the day of salvation”. For the rich man he was putting it off, and it counted as irresponsibleness on his side.

Now God demands no premium, so why are you refusing to sign the document? Christ Jesus has paid the premium by His atoning death on the cross. Life under God should make no one shrink back. In fact, it is the only way worth living. For Lazarus he knew before he died, while for the rich man, it was late. Get insured now. Like I heard a young man said in a bus one day to a young lady “It’s your time not your life” so live it wisely dear! Stop saying it’s my life and I can do whatever I like with it, or tomorrow I will repent.  No one knows their turn to die, so get insured now!

Everybody Should Win:The need to Learn how to Resolve Conflict

“Two are better than one, because they have good return for their labour” Eccl. 4:9 “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord” Hebrews 12:14 As a development consultant with some specialty in conflict management, working in the space for over a decade now, I can confirm that indeed life is inevitable without conflicts. But how we manage the process is key. The Bible references above reminds of the benefits we get from working together and also living in peace and above all the spiritual benefits. Living in peace facilitates holy living, which in turn makes us to see the Lord, in everything we do. This article will be a form of review of Gary Chapman’s book “Everybody Wins: Guide to Solving Conflicts without Arguing” (if you can please get a copy for yourself). The goal of everyone, couples or people in relationship should be to resolve conflict without arguing. We must first establish before proceeding ...

Prayer Mission Statement IV

Acts 10:1-8 “He and all his family were devout and God fearing, he gave generously to those in need and prayed regularly” v 2. We go a step further  in our family prayer series, before we round up it up with the next post by His grace. The suggestion in part IV is to formulate a family prayer mission statement, our praying should focus on our mission statement. Remember some couples of weeks back, we shared the issue of vision and mission statement together and through the scripture, we agreed that without a vision/mission statement people perish, people are stagnant or have no direction at all. Like said yesterday that as a family there is need to have or know the purpose and plan of God for our family. The statement could be written or not, but it gives your family direction. For Cornelius, he and his family knew they were meant to help the poor and pray fervently. They never used their position as a prominent military family to intimidate people. Their statement ...
