Reading and Meditation 2 Samuel 2:17-23 “… Turn aside to the right or to the left, take on one of the young men and strip him of his weapons” but Asahel would not stop chasing him” v 21 The passage meditated upon today is the account of the final battle that placed David finally as King over the house of Israel. It was the war between the house of David and Saul. The bible said the war that day was very fierce. Abner a great soldier and the commander of Saul’s army fled. As he was running, there was the young Asahel on David’s side, he was a good runner, but not very skilled in war, he chased him. Asahel had the zeal but no experience or protection for himself. He got killed even after several warning by Abner for him to turn back. Study the account for yourself and you might pick out one or two lessons for your life journey! Friend zeal without knowledge and specific strategy can kill. Even in our zeal we need amours for protection [Eph. 6:10 to the end] ...
