Family prayer series: No Pressure

Reading and Meditation

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

“Memorize his laws, and tell them to your children over and over again, talk about them all the time, whether you’re at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night or getting up in the morning.” v 7 [CEV]

It is a wide know fact and saying, that a praying family is a wining family, prayers helps family to love and stay together. So between now and the next few days, we would be looking at some suggestion to help prepare you to begin praying as a family.

For today; the first suggestion is –no pressure-let Jesus lead and the Holy Spirit guide. One or both parents are to take the initiative to begin family prayer. However children can also be the catalyst. Either way, the parents will need to guide the family into spiritual adventure.

As a parent you must note that you don’t need to be ‘prayer expects’. All you need is to move in obedience with the power and strength of Christ. He has called you to pray as a family, and He will be faithful to teach you as a family through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Don’t be ashamed now, that you can’t pray, very well in present of your family, throw pride away, instead make you family see Jesus as their teacher; who will bring you all to Gods throne. Not only will this take pressure off you, but it will also afford you the opportunity to learn along with your family.

Lesson Learnt
Never be ashamed that you can pray very well, but be ashamed that you are not making effort to grow in your prayer life.

Prayer Point
Lord Jesus, a praying family is a wining family, Lord teach my family to pray. (Amen)

Everybody Should Win:The need to Learn how to Resolve Conflict

“Two are better than one, because they have good return for their labour” Eccl. 4:9 “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord” Hebrews 12:14 As a development consultant with some specialty in conflict management, working in the space for over a decade now, I can confirm that indeed life is inevitable without conflicts. But how we manage the process is key. The Bible references above reminds of the benefits we get from working together and also living in peace and above all the spiritual benefits. Living in peace facilitates holy living, which in turn makes us to see the Lord, in everything we do. This article will be a form of review of Gary Chapman’s book “Everybody Wins: Guide to Solving Conflicts without Arguing” (if you can please get a copy for yourself). The goal of everyone, couples or people in relationship should be to resolve conflict without arguing. We must first establish before proceeding ...

Prayer Mission Statement IV

Acts 10:1-8 “He and all his family were devout and God fearing, he gave generously to those in need and prayed regularly” v 2. We go a step further  in our family prayer series, before we round up it up with the next post by His grace. The suggestion in part IV is to formulate a family prayer mission statement, our praying should focus on our mission statement. Remember some couples of weeks back, we shared the issue of vision and mission statement together and through the scripture, we agreed that without a vision/mission statement people perish, people are stagnant or have no direction at all. Like said yesterday that as a family there is need to have or know the purpose and plan of God for our family. The statement could be written or not, but it gives your family direction. For Cornelius, he and his family knew they were meant to help the poor and pray fervently. They never used their position as a prominent military family to intimidate people. Their statement ...
