Perfection




Matt 5:1-18
“Be perfect, therefore as your heavenly father is perfect” v18 
 


Once heard a story of a man sitting one day at home with his teenage daughter all of a sudden four healthy young men broke into his house and kidnapped his daughter, with him standing helpless before these four giants. The daughter screened ‘father save me’ the man replied. ‘As you can see Child, I am no match to this feast looking men.’ The daughter’s next response changed the man’s continence ‘What have you done, that you say you can do nothing?’ motivated by the Child’s response, he ran inside the house brought out his cutlass and chased after the kidnappers; the kidnapers turning and saw the man giving a hot chase with a cutlass glinting threw the daughter away and took to their heels.

With the same spirit with the man’s daughter, God is asking today, ‘What have you done to be perfect?’ (Matt 19:21). You keep saying nobody is perfect, but I am sorry to inform you this morning that nothing imperfect would walk into heaven. (Matt 5:5, 2Tim 3:16-17, Col. 1:28)

We have being called unto perfection, so make a resolve to use Gods grace well, to obey him and work daily unto a perfect end, don’t  let any Church  dogma  or  belief’s tell you that you can’t be perfect. Please note we are not preaching work here or becoming a moralist or perfectionist. The Blood of Jesus, Grace and Love are all that is meant to drag us into perfection. (Ps 37:37)
Perfection is paying evil with good!

If we are serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, we must act like it” Colossians 3:1

Family Prayer Series III: ALIGN WITH GOD

Reading & Meditation Joshua 24:1-15 “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” 15c We bless God for another gift of a day. We are still on the issue of the praying family. Another suggestion in helping our family pray together is the issue of aligning with God. Joshua from our today’s, passage, understood God’s purpose for himself and family, and would have probably be teaching them, practicing and obeying them with his family as instructed by God in Deuteronomy. This made him stand to the end, and at his good old age, he was still with God and could declare for his family; that they are partner with the Lord, till death. For your family to begin praying, then you must align with God’s plan and purpose. Before praying as a family, the family purpose and plans must be known by all members involved, provided they can understand issues of life. Prayer Mission Statement IV

Acts 10:1-8 “He and all his family were devout and God fearing, he gave generously to those in need and prayed regularly” v 2. We go a step further  in our family prayer series, before we round up it up with the next post by His grace. The suggestion in part IV is to formulate a family prayer mission statement, our praying should focus on our mission statement. Remember some couples of weeks back, we shared the issue of vision and mission statement together and through the scripture, we agreed that without a vision/mission statement people perish, people are stagnant or have no direction at all. Like said yesterday that as a family there is need to have or know the purpose and plan of God for our family. The statement could be written or not, but it gives your family direction.
