2013 Year of Service

John 13:1-17

“Now that I, you Lord and Teacher have washed your feet you also should do as I have done for you…you will be blessed ”v14, 17

The story in John Chapter 13, was the encounter between Christ and his disciples, just before his death on Calvary. He was washing their feet, Peter as usual being an unspoken one, thought it respectful to refuse the Lord from washing his feet; Peter not knowing the spiritual lesson, the Lord was passing, was about to miss out of a divine grace that would have helped him when eventually he became the leader of the earthly church, Peter would have ended up being a burden on Gods people and missed out of the kingdom package.

Friend is your present condition or people around you making you feel important and you are not serving God's people. Know that if our works must become profitable not necessary in terms of material possession, we must be a servant worker.

As we progress in the year, will you locate your own task in God's Business and Life? Because we all have task to do that have been prepared in advance for us ‘for we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do’ Ephesians 2:10

This task must be done in humility.

Prayer

Lord Almighty, thank you for saving me, and not just leaving me to rove instead you prepare my own task, dear Lord help me locate it, pursue same in humility& in service to mankind and you ultimately. (Amen)

Joshua 9:1-26 “The men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not enquire of the lord. Then Joshua made a treaty of peace with then to let them live and the leaders of the assembly ratified it by oath”. V 14-15. The issue of using ones common sense has been an issue of division among the body of Christ, even in this generation of motivational speakers. Men are neglecting the place of consulting God on critic issues or even smaller matter like traveling. Reading & Meditation Joshua 24:1-15 “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” 15c We bless God for another gift of a day. We are still on the issue of the praying family. Another suggestion in helping our family pray together is the issue of aligning with God. Joshua from our today’s, passage, understood God’s purpose for himself and family, and would have probably be teaching them, practicing and obeying them with his family as instructed by God in Deuteronomy. This made him stand to the end, and at his good old age, he was still with God and could declare for his family; that they are partner with the Lord, till death.
